In the opinion of Albert Einstein, "True art is characterized by an irresistible urge in the creative artist."
Creating art is more than an irresistible urge to most artists - it is a passion. An artist simply must create something! There is a drive within us that must be addressed. When we are inspired to paint, or sculpt, or write music, or whatever is our passion, then we are compelled to produce a work of art.
It is my passion to visually record the things that inspire me. Whether it is an awesome vista in nature, a peaceful pastoral scene, a poignant moment in time, an esthetic arrangement of objects, a nostalgic trip into the past, or a sparkling clarity of light on a beautiful object, I know instantly if it is something I have to put down on canvas or paper. And because of this, I can hope that I am producing "true art."
Hedy Lamarr, a famous actress of the mid-twentieth century, once said, "A good painting to me has always been like a friend. It keeps me company, comforts and inspires."
I would like to think my works will become friends to my collectors. I hope they keep you company, comfort you and inspire you.
